Video Tutorial 3 New Crumb Piecing Quilts with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star
Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own, unique take on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies show off three fabulous, scrap-busting crumb pieced projects.
Jenny’s starts with a crash course in crumb piecing. She brings out her tub of scraps and transforms those little bits and pieces into 10 inch squares.
Then, those blocks get stitched together with a crumb-pieced border that looks like a scrappy, wonky piano key border.
Natalie’s “Carpenter’s Square” quilt is made with fat quarters and 5-inch squares of crumb piecing. Her fabric is the Bloom On Fat Quarter Bundle by Maywood Studio. Her layout is beautifully fresh and modern, but it’s really just a simple charm quilt!
Misty’s “Full Circle” quilt was also made with the Bloom On Fat Quarter Bundle by Maywood Studio. Misty’s built her crumb pieced-blocks with strip sets, which was so quick and easy. Then she used the orange peel templates to cut out pretty, curved blocks that are appliqued to 10 inch squares. Truth be told, this quilt looks SO much more difficult than it really is!
