Jacob’s Ladder Quilt Block

The Jacobs Ladder block dates back to before the Revolutionary War and is steeped in religious symbolism. Some historians date it back to before the Civil War, when it was used as part of an underground railway code to aid in the escape of thousands of slaves, while others believe it was first used during the war and later adapted for use as an encryption block
