modern weavings by natalie novak
Tapestry is a centuries-old art form, so it makes sense for Natalie Novak, the self-described “yarn wizard” behind Combed Thread, to make woven creations inspired by ancient, mythological motifs. Her lovely works often feature snakes, hands, eyes and earthy colours, as she uses her craft to explore “colour, mythology, symbolism and the (super)natural world”. And hoo-boy, her stuff is so far beyond the clumsy wall-hangings we tried to make at a beginner’s weaving class. This multi-coloured hand poncho, for one thing, is just so, so cool. Each piece is super-unique, and they regularly sell out, so follow her Instagram closely for shop updates.
