Free Caribbean Sunset Quilt Pattern
One can’t help but think of warm tropical breezes when looking at this quilt designed by Ellie Brown for McCall’s Quilting magazine. The colors she used in her version are just like an exotic island and with it’s combination of circles and stripes, it is an eye catching pattern.
The finished quilt measures 80.5″ x 90.5″ so it’s a perfect queen size. Even better, the pattern is suitable for beginners so anyone can do this. It is a good scrap busting quilt because it incorporates many strips in various colors and each circle is different too.
In the striped blocks, the designer tried to use an ombré effect to add to the design and it certainly works. It adds another element of interest to the overall quilt.
For this quilt you will need standard quilting supplies along with assorted fabric strips. For the backing you will need about 7.5 yards. The downloadable pdf pattern contains everything you need to know to make the quilt.
This lovely tropical design is sure to warm you up, even on cold winter nights. You can find it here: Caribbean Sunset
