Apple Quilt Block Tutorial
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, and when the leaves start to change colors, I know that apple picking season isn’t far away. In the orchards around us, the trees begin to burst with all of that delicious fruit. Did you know that there are over 7,500 apple varieties in the world and that they are part of the rose family? I sure didn’t. All I know is that they taste great, and that I have made many scrumptious treats from ones that we have picked over the years.
Believe me, if you make a quilt using this charming apple quilt block from Mary Kohler you’ll be reminded of apples all year round.
The quilt block, which measures 10 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ is an ideal scrap buster, so start raiding your fabric stash to put it together. The author shows off her stunning quilt which uses twelve of the blocks. Looking gorgeous in all reds, I can also picture it made in scraps of yellows, golds and reds. It just screams fall to me.
Make a mini quilt from just one block and give it as a teacher gift. I bet they would hang it proudly in their classroom.
The Sweet Apple Quilt Block is a free downloadable block that has easy-to-follow directions and helpful diagrams that make it a snap to assemble.
