Tremendously Easy and Intriguing Sewing Projects for Beginners
The entire thought of holding a needle and thread and sewing something may seem intimidating to some. However, sewing is not rocket science and is an intriguing art that can be mastered if one has the interest. Mastering a few basics of sewing will enable you to successfully taken on various sewing projects. Let’s take a look at some simply sewing options.
Sock Wristbands
Is there any better way of utilizing an old pair of socks, than by making sock wristbands. Well, you could make clothes for dolls, however, if you don’t have kids in the house, sock wristbands are a splendid idea. To make these you need a pair of socks with thick ankle bands, a pair of scissors, and a needle and thread. Turn the sock inside out and cut off the closed region of the sock, using a pair of scissors, so as to obtain a rectangular piece of sock that is open at both ends. Fold the cut end inwards and hem it. For thinner wristbands fold further and hem all around the edges. Now, turn the piece of sock the other way round and wear it on your hand. Once you feel the size is perfect, decorate it the way you like. You could either embroider a pattern of your choice or sew a patch onto it.
Baby Bib
For baby bibs you need one square washcloth, one packet of double-fold seam binding, straight pins, thread, a pair of scissors, and of course a sewing machine. Fold the washcloth in half and cut out a neck-shaped semi-circle, all the way from the center of the washcloth to the top edges. You could first draw the shape before cutting it out. Take one yard of double-fold seam binding and pin it to the neck-shaped cutout. Pin the entire edge of the washcloth cutout with the seam binding. With a zigzag stitch, begin stitching at one end of the foam seam binding. Machine stitch the bib tie. Stitch patches of cute cartoon cloth cutouts or paint some cartoons on the bib.
Felt Pencil Case
Pencil cases can be made easily with some pieces of felt and embroidery thread. You can put some color pencils into them and give them out as favors for your child’s birthday. Get pieces (2½-by-18-inch) rectangular pieces of felt in whichever colors you want. Fold one end of the felt upwards, about 6 inches. With a running stitch, sew up the sides of rectangular piece of felt, such that a pocket is formed. You will have a flap-like piece left at the top. Bend the flap and to keep it secure, stitch a button on the pocket and make a hole on the flap. You can decorate the pencil case with felt flowers, etc.
Ribbon Spectacle Case
For this you need flannel, fusible webbing, and a ribbon of 7-inch each. You also need a pair of scissors and a sewing machine. Layer the flannel, fusible webbing squares, and ribbons, such that the top ribbon extends ¼ inch beyond the webbing. Sew the ribbons together with the machine along their edges. Use decorative stitches to do the same to enhance the look. Moreover, fold the top ribbon to the rear of the square and stitch towards the edge. Fold the piece inside out and sew along the edges. Turn the case inside out. Your spectacle case is ready.
These were just some very basic sewing projects that beginners can try out. Once you try out these, allow your creative juices to flow and make different items from pieces of felt or cloth. You could even gift them to family and friends and surprise them with the personal touch!

Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your content seem to be running off the screen in Ie. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The layout look great though! Hope you get the problem resolved soon. Cheers
